"After I made an appointment I decided I was going to try and do it myself. Michael FaceTimed me, walked me through what to do, then call back if I still needed him. An hour later I called him and he was at my house in 35 minutes. Some of the best service I've ever received from a contractor. He finished in two hours and went above and beyond. The same-day service was incredible. Absolute professionals."

Some of the Main Fixes We Do
Pick the one that sounds like your problem and we will take you straight to it.
Expert Screen Door Repair You Can Count On
From Gal Cohen, Field Area Manager: "I have been on screen door repair jobs since 2012, and our crews now run them across Florida, New York, Georgia, Colorado, Texas and Nevada. Most repairs we handle wrap up in roughly 2 hours, same-day, and you can see the real before-and-afters in the photos and videos on this page."
JDM repairs and rescreens sliding screen doors, fixing torn mesh, bent frames, worn rollers, and stuck tracks so the door does its job again. When a screen door fails, bugs get in, airflow drops, and the door turns into an eyesore. We restore it with repairs built to last.
Repairing a sliding screen door is usually cheaper than replacing it. Where the frame is straight we rescreen it in place, swap the rollers, and clean the track so it rolls without being lifted. Where the frame is bent or corroded past straightening, a new custom screen door built to your opening costs less than most people expect. Patio screen doors and lanai sliders are the same job.
We cover every issue, from a simple rescreen to a full roller and track overhaul. We work on standard sliding screens, retractable screens, hinged screens, and security screen doors. Our techs check the whole door, frame, mesh, rollers, track, handle, and latch, and fix the real cause instead of patching it. We use quality screen materials: standard fiberglass, heavy-duty pet-resistant mesh, solar-shade screening for UV, and fine mesh for smaller insects.
A working screen door pays off beyond looks. It lets you ventilate naturally and lean less on the AC, sharpens curb appeal with taut screen and aligned hardware, and takes the daily traffic off your main slider so that door lasts longer. Our techs know the regional weather, pests, and conditions that wear screen doors down here, and we pick materials to match.
Rescreen or Replace? How We Decide on Site
Most people call us asking us to replace a screen door when what they need is a rescreen. The difference comes down to the frame. If the aluminum frame is still square and the corner keys are tight, we pull the old mesh, replace the spline, and stretch new screen into the same frame. That is a rescreen, and it is the cheaper of the two by a wide margin.
We replace the whole door when the frame has lost its shape. Corners that have pulled apart, a bowed top rail, or aluminum that has gone chalky and soft will not hold new mesh tight, so a rescreen on a bad frame tears again within a season. In that case we measure your opening and build a new screen door to fit it, because stock sizes almost never match an existing slider.
The tech tells you which one your door needs before any work starts, and the quote is flat-rate either way. If a rescreen will hold, we say so.
Screen Mesh Types and Which One to Pick
Standard fiberglass mesh is what came on most doors from the factory. It is the least expensive option and it is fine for a door that does not take much traffic.
Pet-resistant mesh is roughly seven times thicker than standard fiberglass. Dogs that push through a screen to get to the yard will not get through this, and cat claws do not open it up. It is the right call for any door a pet uses daily.
Solar screening blocks a large share of incoming sunlight and heat, so a door that faces afternoon sun stays cooler behind it. It reads darker from outside and cuts glare inside.
No-see-um mesh uses a tighter weave that stops the small biting insects a standard screen lets straight through. Airflow drops a little in exchange, which is the trade worth knowing about before you pick it.
We carry all four on the truck, so you choose the material at the visit instead of waiting on an order.
Why a Sliding Screen Door Stops Rolling
A sliding screen door is lighter than the main door, which is exactly why it gives out first. The rollers are smaller, they carry less weight to hold themselves in the track, and they hop out of alignment easily.
Four things account for most of the calls. Worn rollers flatten on one side and drag instead of turning. The bottom track fills with grit that acts like sandpaper on the wheels. The top guide loosens and lets the door lean, so it binds at one end of the run. Or the frame has racked out of square and the door only rolls freely on part of the track.
Lifting the door back onto the track fixes it for a day and then it jumps again, because the reason it came off is still there. We replace the rollers, clean and straighten the track, reset the top guide, and square the frame, then run the door end to end several times to confirm it stays put.

"After a couple of hiccups with getting our repair done by someone else, our technician Richard showed up on time (actually half an hour earlier than the appointment time). He was very polite and got the job done in the time he told us it would take. Our glass door now glides smoothly and is able to lock again. I highly recommend Richard, he represented his company very well. I will definitely consider using them in the future!"

Screen Door and Window Screen Work We Do
Screens are the simplest thing we work on and the easiest to get wrong, because almost nothing about them is a standard size.
Which one do you need?
Sliding Screen Door Repair
A sliding screen door comes off its track more than any other door in the house. It is light, the frame flexes, and the wheels are small, so a push at the wrong height is enough to lift one side out of the channel.
Putting it back takes a minute once you know the order. Lift the door, tilt the top into the upper channel first, then set the wheels down into the bottom track with the door still leaning, then stand it upright. Doors fall straight back out when the bottom goes in first, because the top guide never engages.
Staying on the track is a different matter, and that is usually the wheels. Each wheel sits on a spring-loaded arm with an adjustment screw at the end of the frame, and the screw sets how far the wheel drops below the frame. Too little and the wheel lifts out of the channel on the first flex. Too much and the door jams. We set both ends so the door sits square and the top guide stays engaged along the whole run.
Past the wheels, the frame corners are the weak point. The frame is four pieces of light aluminum on plastic corner keys, and once those keys break the door goes out of square and no adjustment holds it. That is the point where a new door costs less than three more repairs.
What you will notice
- A door that comes off the track again and again
- A door that will not stay square in the opening
- Corners pulled apart at the frame joints
- Wheels gone flat or missing their springs
Screen Door Roller Replacement
The door drags, chatters, or needs lifting to move. Screen door rollers are the smallest moving part we replace, and they sit in the dirtiest part of the door, so they wear out faster than anything on the patio slider beside them.
A screen roller is a nylon wheel in a housing on a spring arm, and all three parts fail. The wheel goes flat or cracks. The spring loses tension, so the wheel no longer presses into the track. The housing wears at the pin and the wheel sits crooked. A seized wheel is the one to catch early, because it skids and scores the track it runs on.
Rollers are not generic, even though the hardware store aisle suggests they are. The housing has to fit the slot in your door frame, and the wheel has to match the shape of your track: a flat wheel for a flat channel, a grooved wheel for a raised rail. We measure the housing and look at the track before fitting anything.
New rollers go in with the door out of the opening, and the height screws get set with the door back in the track rather than on the bench. Put lubricant on the wheels and keep it out of the channel. A greased screen track collects grit and chews through new rollers in a season.
What you will notice
- A door that needs lifting to move
- Chattering or scraping along the run
- A wheel that will not turn by hand
- A door riding low at one end
Screen Door Track Repair
The door comes off at the same point every time, or there is a flattened section of the bottom channel you can feel with a fingertip. The track is what the wheels have to hold onto, and screen tracks are thin.
Three things happen to them. The lip gets stepped on and flattens, so the wheels have nothing to sit against. Grit grinds a shallow trench and the wheels fall into it. Or the channel fills with sand and leaves until the door is running on debris instead of metal.
Cleaning settles more screen track complaints than parts do, so that comes first: the channel vacuumed and scrubbed to bare metal end to end, including the stretch under the fixed panel where the dirt actually collects. Then we look at the metal. A flattened lip can often be dressed back straight. A channel worn through, or bent in the middle of a run, takes a new track or a cap over it.
On most screen openings the track is a separate strip from the patio door's own frame, which is the good news. It comes out and goes back without touching the main door beside it.
What you will notice
- Coming off the track at the same point every time
- A flattened or bent lip on the channel
- Grit you cannot vacuum out of the bottom track
- A door riding visibly high over debris
How a Replacement Sliding Screen Door Is Measured and Built
Screen doors are not sold in sizes that match the opening yours came out of. A door built in 2004 sits in a frame with its own height, its own track shape, and its own idea of where the handle goes. That is why a replacement sliding screen door is measured and built rather than pulled off a shelf.
We measure at the track and not off the old door, because a door that has racked out of square measures short. Height comes off the running surface to the underside of the top channel, with the roller travel allowed for, since a door built to the exact opening cannot be lifted into the track at all.
We also note the track shape, which decides the roller type, and the handle height, which usually matches the main door beside it. The new door is then hung and adjusted on site: rollers set so it rides level, the top guide tightened so it cannot lean, and the latch lined up with the strike on the jamb. The mesh is chosen at the same time, and those options are set out further down this page.
What you will notice
- A frame with corners that have pulled apart
- Aluminum gone chalky and soft to the touch
- New mesh that tears again within a season
- A door that will not stay square in the track
Window Screen Repair and Replacement
A torn window screen is about half an hour of work per screen, and it is one of the few repairs where putting new mesh in the old frame is usually better than buying a new one.
A screen is mesh held in a channel by a rubber cord called spline. Rescreening means pulling the old spline out, laying new mesh over the frame, and rolling the spline back in to tension it. Done right, the mesh is drum tight with no waves. Done wrong it sags, and a sagging screen tears again at a corner within a season.
Mesh is a real choice. Standard fiberglass is the cheapest and the least visible. Aluminum mesh holds its shape better on a large opening. Pet mesh is several times stronger and the right call on any screen at dog height. Solar mesh cuts a useful amount of the heat coming through a sun-facing window, at the cost of some view. We will say which openings in your house want which.
Frames get replaced rather than rescreened when the corners have let go, the aluminum has gone chalky and soft, or an earlier repair has stretched the channel so the spline no longer holds. Those are built to the opening, measured at the window and not off the old frame.
What you will notice
- Tears, holes, or a bulge in the mesh
- Mesh gone wavy or loose in its frame
- A frame that flexes or has open corners
- Screens missing from openings you want to use
Screen Door Installation
A screen door is installed rather than just hung, because almost every opening one goes into was built around a door that is no longer made. The new door is measured and built to your track.
We measure at the track, not off the door that came out, since a door that has racked out of square measures short. Height is taken from the running surface to the underside of the top channel with roller travel allowed for, because a door built to the exact opening cannot be lifted into the track at all. We also note the track profile, which decides the wheel, and the handle height, which usually matches the patio door beside it.
Where there is no track, there is more to do. A new sliding screen needs a channel at the sill and a guide at the head, fixed into the frame of the patio door rather than into trim. On a hinged entry opening the hardware is different again: hinges, a closer sized for a light door, and a latch set to the jamb.
The door is adjusted in place. Wheels set so it rides level, the top guide tightened so it cannot lean out, and the latch lined up with its strike. Mesh is picked at the same time, from the same options as any other screen in the house.
What you will notice
- An opening with no screen door at all
- A door past repair at the frame corners
- A screen door that was never the right size for its track
- A new patio door with no screen fitted

Screen Door Repair: Common Questions, Answered
Here are straight answers to the questions we hear most about screen door repair.
How much does screen door repair typically cost?
Screen work is the cheapest thing we do. Re-screening with standard fiberglass mesh sits well below a sliding door roller and track repair, which averages about $405, and it usually finishes in one visit. Roller replacement, frame straightening, and premium mesh such as heavy-duty pet-resistant or solar shade screen cost more, because the material does. We quote flat-rate once we have seen the door, so you know the figure before we start.
Can you repair a screen door with a bent frame?
In many cases, we can straighten a bent screen door frame and restore it to proper operation. If the frame is severely bent, cracked, or corroded, replacement of the frame or the entire screen door may be more cost-effective. We will assess the damage and recommend the best approach.
What type of screen mesh is best for homes with pets?
We recommend heavy-duty pet-resistant screen mesh, made from thicker, stronger material that resists tearing from pet claws. It costs a little more than standard fiberglass but lasts far longer in homes with dogs or cats. We keep it in stock and can install it during your repair visit.
How long does a screen door repair take?
Most screen door repairs are completed in 30 minutes to two hours depending on the scope of work. Simple re-screening is on the faster end, while repairs involving roller replacement, track work, and frame straightening take longer. We complete most repairs in a single visit.
Can you install a screen door on a sliding glass door that does not currently have one?
Yes, we can add a screen door to most existing sliding glass door systems. We measure the opening, source or fabricate the appropriate screen door to match your track system, and install it for smooth operation. This is a popular upgrade that adds ventilation and insect protection.
What are the benefits of solar shade screen mesh?
Solar shade screens block much of the UV and solar heat while still letting you see out and feel the breeze. They cut glare, protect interior furnishings from fading, and lower cooling costs by keeping solar heat out. They work best on south and west-facing doors that catch direct afternoon sun.
Is it cheaper to rescreen a screen door or replace it?
Rescreening is cheaper when the frame is still square and solid, and that covers most doors we see. Replacement makes sense once the frame is bent, corroded, or pulling apart at the corners, because new mesh will not stay tight on a frame that has lost its shape. We tell you which one your door needs at the visit and quote a flat rate before starting.
Can you build a screen door for a non-standard opening?
Yes. We measure the opening and build the screen door to those dimensions, which is usually necessary because older sliders rarely match the stock sizes sold at a hardware store. You pick the mesh and the frame color, and we install it on the same visit where the parts allow.
